Children need more exercise
There is nothing new in the observation that young children need more exercise. However, at a time when much public sector outdoor provision is under threat we need to use every opportunity we can get to make the point to decision makers, and to support your various outdoor programmes. This research may help. It is one of several outcomes from the Millennium Cohort Study and looks at the amount of exercise, or lack of it, young children are taking. However, the solutions proposed are not very imaginative, and don’t mention adventure activities, outdoor learning, etc.
